I plugged in a USB drive while my HDX was booting today and a few minutes later I noticed the screen had a system event 3 message. Did I cause that plugging in the drive during the bootup or is there a problem? This is the first time I've seen this in a year of running the system.

I have two screens connected but this was only showing on one.

Similar happened to me today. Did the usual monthly DB updates, which auto-sync'd to the other screen, then noticed after the sync finished (seemed like it did the sync twice but wasn't paying enough attention), looked over at EFIS 2 to see a black screen with random colors scattered about the screen. It then rebooted and came up with the System Event 3 error and a request to send the error logging, which I did. Will update when I find out what Dynon thinks the problem might be (if there is one). Only 5ish flight hours on new HDX1100 that replaced my SV1000T screens a month or so ago.
Pro-tip: Do a screen shot of the System Event 3 error screen (requires USB drive) in case you forget the URL to which they want the problem reported and logging loaded.

My problem ended up being an issue with the FAA database update. When I went to fly last week, the radio could not read the DB. I had to install last months update to get going again. After flying, I downloaded the update again and it worked fine. I suspect I had not "safely" ejected the USB drive on the previous attempt.
