I had a System Event 5 message tonight on one of my displays. I followed the instructions, but never got any indication what the problem was. Curious. Any way to provide more details?

"Not an emergency" is somewhat reassuring, but makes me wonder if IMC will be a problem.

It's a code that means that the system has self-detected a problem. It's not a "grounding" event, but we'd like to get displays that throw that alert back for a hardware modification.

Same problem here, is there no other option than to send it back in? As a rental and trainer, 2 weeks or so out of service isn't desirable.

It's not a grounding event, but it means that the system had detected a problem in hardware (in this case, it's SkyView's equivalent of a hard drive) that we'd like to fix. You will ultimately need to send in the display though.

13.0.3 BUGS?

I just updated to 13.0.3. On second flight I got the Message : Sys Event 5: See Setup"  No noticeable issue - just the audible "Message".  Latched in message page till power cycle.

I entered the In-Flight setup but see nothing out of the ordinary. What can I do to determine if this is a software issue or hardware?

From DYNON Upgrade notes:
New: SkyView can now self-detect and alert on unexpected events that occur. Upon seeing a SYSTEM EVENT alert, user can enter the Setup Menu for more information. This can help alert the customer of an impending or emerging hardware or software issue.

Got the message Saturday outbound on a short hop to meet up with friends. Didn't want to investigate in the air on a short hop and everything appeared and worked normally. For the return hop message was gone. Everything worked normally. This unit has been returned once already for the circuit board replacement.

Definitely has the feel of a software glitch after the latest update. I'm sure a lot of us would hate to endure down time and shipping charges unnecessarily as would Dynon. Please keep us updated on this issue.

System Event 5 does mean your SkyView display has a hardware issue, unfortunately. Other numbers that we might use in the future may imply other issues, including software bugs that we've yet to discover the root cause on but can see artifacts of something not working right. The release note was written a little generically for the broad capability, but in this case the event implies a hardware problem. Please get in touch with our support staff at 425-402-0433 or support at dynonavionics.com. We'll work with you to make it as easy as possible, and again it's not a grounding event, but one we'd like to fix for you. You can also fill out the System Event Reporting Form to speed things up.

On first boot up of SV D1000 I received a System Event 5 message. Have upgraded to latest software release and System Event 5 still present.

Also notice that system will not reboot if only a short time (< 1 minute) since powering down. Boots up ok if left for 10 minutes plus.

Please advise how I should proceed

Due to System 5 Event, I have just been notified by Dynon that my Skyview display has been repaired and is on its way back to me. Total turn around time was less than 10 days. I originally shipped it to them 2nd day air and it was returned back to me same shipping priority.

Thank you Dynon for your tech support, prompt repair and return.

Dynon is just the best. Keep up the good work.

I sure hope that the fix for the system 5 event works. I had to pull all three of my 7 inch SkyView's and return them ($109 in insured shipping from Baltimore) along with the Com radio which seems to be frequency drifting. Dynon issued RMA's for all and the communication during the process has been good. 5 days in now, after a week just getting them there. Hope to get them back soon. I'm snowed in anyway. Any reports from people who have reinstalled after the fix?

Repaired gear installed and configured. No problem. So far, all is well. Interesting that I had to reboot everything twice before Com started talking to Skyview.
