Terrain Highlighting Feature Request

While coming back from Oshkosh, i was about to cross the Sierra Nevada range, and i really wish i had the ability to highlight terrain better.

For instance, this is what i saw on my screen below. Because I was above all terrain, i did not see any yellow or red highlights.

However, wouldn't it be great if i could toggle my altitude to show low and high terrain even better. Ie, i wanted the ability to show valleys and low terrain better such as in this image. The below image was obtained climbing out of Richfield, UT. Because i was climbing out and at a certain altitude, it was obvious where the valley was with the red and yellow highlights.

I wonder if this type of custom terrain highlighting exists in other products?

I believe you can change the range at which the terrain becomes yellow and red. Default for Red is 100ft below to anything above, and default for yellow is 100ft below to 1,000 ft below.

Check the configuration menu I believe you can change them. HOWEVER, I'm not sure you want to do that permanently.

You can set at what clearance the yellow and red show in the SETUP MENU -> MAP SETUP. The default is 100' for red and 1000' for yellow. I don't think they can be changed in flight. It really doesn't matter where the valleys are when you're 1000' above all the terrain. If you need to see the yellow and red just fly lower .

I was thinking more along the lines of having a knob to change the altitude and being able to watch the terrain highlighting change real-time on the screen. It just seems like that would be a handy feature.

Even though I am over 1000' above terrain, i would still like the most height above the ground just in case.

Also, another case it would be handy is if you are climbing to higher terrain. Terrain would be all red in this case. If i could adjust the altitude until I cleared all terrain, i would know exactly what that altitude is before i get there.

I just remember referring to the sectional periodically to determine what altitude certain peaks were at. There are no altitudes depicted on the SV map, other than terrain highlighting.
