Hello;
Newbie here, I have an RV-12 equipped with a Skyview system.  I do not have ADS-B out, and I do not have a ADS-B in rcvr.  Why do I get TIS-B traffic ?.  I fly out of Harvey Field (S43), and I am always showing numerous targets.  From everything I have read, I should not be receiving any TIS-B, because I don't have ADS-B out.  Can anyone comment on this ?.

Thank you

Welcome fellow Seattle-ite!

You don't get TIS-B. You get TIS-A which comes from the transponder. It only works in very limited areas of the USA, but the very dense Seattle area is one of those.

Page 7-28 of the user guide has more information including a link to the AIM which has detailed info on the various traffic sources in the USA.

Just when I thought I was getting to know ADS-B, another curve ball gets thrown in.
FWIW, the Skyview display shows TIS-B, not TIS-A

thanks for responding

Can you get a screenshot? It should say "TIS OK" not "TIS-B OK"

And just to be clear, TIS-A has nothing to do with ADS-B. It has existed since the 70's,long before anyone ever dreamed of ADS-B.
