Traffic disappears at 80 nm zoom and above

I just noticed this and wanted to confirm. I was flying around with map zoom set at 80nm. No traffic at all. However, to my surprise, when I zoomed in one click in to 50nm, all the traffic appears on the map. I searched for a user setting to change this zoom level under Map Menu -> Map Items. However, i could not find it.

It seemed strange not to make this a user configurable setting. Nothing is mentioned in the manual about an arbitrarily set zoom level where all traffic disappears off the map. Am i missing it somehow?

Thanks

It does act a little different than other map items. At those high ranges, any traffic that you'd be able to see (that could possibly be a factor) would be a tight swarm around the aircraft. If you did have a Traffic Alert, that would still fire an autible and visual alert regardless of whether it's painted on the map.

In fact, that was my assumption while flying around at 80 nm zoom, that I would at least see a target painted within my hockey puck if someone were there. Then at my leisure I could zoom in to investigate if i wanted.

I still think there should be some "indication" of traffic within your hockey puck somehow or just render the swarm of targets in a single blob or some other type of rendering. I think someone else is going to make the same mistake then spend the next 10 to 15 minutes trying to find the setting, like i did. ;)
