Traffic with ADS-B box only

I only have the Dynon ADS-B box with my system, and not the Dynon transponder. In the bottom right hand corner of the map screen, I get a little icon that indicates the traffic has failed. I remember seeing a discussion on this in a previous post. I can't remember seeing any resolution on this issue. Is this a bug that will be fixed in a future update, or is there a way to fix this? Also, with the ADS-B only, I should be able to see aircraft transmitting ADS-B position data, right?

I think you have to be transmitting position data through the transponder to be recognized as as ADS-B equipped. Otherwise there is no traffic data sent back to you. The Dynon ADS-B is receive only. The send part is the transponder.

The traffic fail is a bug that was introduced in the last software release (5.1) that will be fixed in the next release. There is no workaround at this time.

While you can theoretically see other ADS-B OUT targets, you can only see 978MHz targets, of which there are probably less than 500 GA planes in the world equipped this way, and no large planes. Because of this, we decided to block the use of traffic unless you are ADS-B out equipped in order to not give any false sense of security that you had any effective traffic system on board.
