Transponder and fast stack hub

Was helping a friend set up his panel on his Zenith which uses an Approach Fast Stack Pro-X hub.

Ran the network configuration and skyview detected everything except the transponder (dynon -262). Figured maybe I just need to set up the transponder first.  'Transponder Setup' on the main setup screen is grayed out, so I first entered in all the aircraft info, n#, hex code, etc.  Dynon's instructions say you need to setup the serial port its its wired to.  Well, I have no idea which 'Serial Port' the premade harness connecting this hub to the skyview is routed to.  So I trialed n'errored setting up each port 1-4 one by one (gps is on 5) to the transponder.  Struck out there, none of the ports recognized anything connected to them.  Got the volt meter out and comfirmed power to the transponder (sure would be nice if it had a power indicating LED).  Checked wire harness connections, all checked out.

I then updated the panel and tried everything again, no joy.  Did I miss something in the configuration?  Only thing I can think of next is to trace every pin on those premade harnesses, if that checks out do I assume the transponder is faulty?

Call Tim at Fast Stack they probably have the documentation for that installation in the aircraft. Phone: (218) 237-STAK (7825)

It's very doubtful the transponder is actually faulty. They're extremely reliable. Did you confirm, from end to end, that one of the serial ports actually goes back to the transponder and is pinned out correctly?

I talked to Tim at Fast Stack. Those premade harnesses should put the transponder on serial port #2. I'll double check the connections and make sure the dummy plug is in the correct port on the hub. Guess if that checks out I'll be tracing pins from the transponder to the screen.
