Hello,

Yesterday I turned on my sky view system for the first time. A lot of problems and I need help to fix them.

First, the transponder don't work. I put it on serial port 1 with the New Dynon harness. Easy, only 4 wires to connect. But the name is in red on the serial port setup page. The TX counter run but not the RX and there is group errors.

It is the same with the VPX. Connected on serial port 2. License activated, but RX counter =0, group errors and message VPX offline when I want to go on the engine VPX page.

I don't know how to find the problem.
Thank you for your help
Sylvain

I precise the power from the VPX is ok on the Transponder DB25. I also reversed the TX and RX wires but it is the same.

Hello Dynon,

I just descovered that my second displays ( where my transponder is connected ) is in Demo mode on the EMS module...I read on this forum it is not normal.
Perhaps it is the reason my transponder don't work ?

Can you send me asap the file to fix it ?

In advance thank you
Sylvain

Sylvain:

If the Serial Port is shown in Red, one of the other serial ports ALSO is set to communicate with your transponder. Go through serial ports 2, 3, 4, and 5 and set the other serial port (that is apparently also set to transponder) to NONE. Then the transponder should work.

Put the wiring back to that as recommended in the SkyView System Installation Guide (reverse your reversed wires).

In another post, you mention that you have two SkyView displays. If you didn't connect the transponder to BOTH displays, that is the problem - any serial device, such as Dynon Avionics transponder and Dynon Avionics GPS, must be connected to both displays to function correctly.

Please send an email to support AT dynonavionics DOT com and they will send you a file to turn off the demo mode.

Hello Dynon,

Thank you for your reply. I just spoke with my distributor and would prefer to receive a brand new display than "repair" it myself.

Just to be clear, the DEMO MODE has nothing to do with your transponder not working. DEMO MODE is a simple software setting where you just load a file to clear it.

Your transponder is not working because it's only hooked to one screen and must be hooked to both. This is also true of the VP-X.

You can test this by turning off the screen where the VP-X and transponder are NOT connected. It should work in that case, but it won't with both on.

you are right for the transponder. It works now. Thank you for your help.

But for the VP-X it don't work with one display too.
Do you have any other suggestions or test to see what's happen ?

In advance thank you
Sylvain

Fundamentally, the RX counter not increasing means that SkyView isn't seeing anything from the VP-X. That could be due to the VP-X not being powered up, the wiring not being correct or continuous, or perhaps a configuration issue on the VP-X. The VP-X may need some PC-based configuration before it will talk to SkyView.
