Transponder harness

I just bought the -1 transponder from Aircraft Spruce, including the 7 foot cable to connect to the skyview (or to the hub). The problem is, there's no plug on the skyview end - just a bunch of bare wires. What's the point of buying a 7' cable to connect to the skyview if there's no plug? Is there some other part I'm supposed to order? the only other thing in the box was a little plastic doodad with two pointy ends that comes apart in the middle - no idea what that's for - and a resistor on a skinny little wire. Help!

You have to route the cable, cut to length (leave extra for future work!) and crimp the pins on yourself, then insert them in a DB connector.  Also, part of the reason there's no connector already on one end is that it's awfully hard to get a DB connector through a grommet

The little plastic doodad is a pin insertion/removal tool.

Get someone to show you how...it's quite simple once you see it done.

The resistor is probably for the serial input from a GPS device.

Check the installation manual for details. It's all in there.

The transponder doesn't hook to the SkyView network, so it connects to aircraft power, and to a serial port on SkyView. It doesn't connect to the hub.

Since the transponder routes to aircraft power, you need a breaker for the transponder power, a ground point, and then to terminate two wires to two wires on the SkyView harness. Thus, there's no point in pins on one end of a transponder harness, since it doesn't go to one other connector in the plane.

Not sure if you bought a Dynon harness or Aircraft Spruce's harness for the transponder. Can you list what PN is on your invoice for the transponder harness?
