Transponder minimum coax length?

I want to mount the transponder on the rear battery tray in my RV8, the battery is going on the firewall. The antenna would be adjacent to the transponder.

Is there a minimum coax length or line distance from the transponder unit to the antenna. If there is a minimum length, can the excess coax be coiled, or must the minimum distance separation be a certain value.

There's no minimum length for the antenna cable.
