Transponder - multi screen bug

I have 3 SV 10" Today while flying tried to enter the code given me by ATC. The second screen would go through the XPDR menu and let me put in the code in. The code would not work. If I input it on the 1st screen it would work. This happened multiple times.

I've not checked the third screen as I had no one in the back.

Thoughts?

Do you have the serial ports from EVERY SkyView wired in parallel to the transponder?

Yes, they are all wired together. If the first screen is powered down. The second screen can control the XPDR. I'm going back out to the airport this afternoon to test the 3rd screen and do more PD.

Anything you'd like me to try?

...and both screens have the appropriate serial port set up to tx/rx from the transponder?

This is a bug that has just recently been discovered. A solution will be in the next firmware release. It has to do with the VFR code button locking the system until a new code is entered on the "Master" SV screen. For now, you will need to use the "Master" screen to enter an ATC assigned code.

Best Regards,

Good thing my "master" screen was in the front pit of the airplane.  Would have been bad had it been in the back.

BTW,  wiring was checked, the configuraitons were the same.  The 2nd and 3rd screen's COULD change the code on the XPDR *IF* they were the only screen turned on.

What determines the "Master" SV screen? S/N?

The "master" is the one you did the last network config from, but then there are other things that can change that over time. In reality, it roams around without you knowing since it is supposed to be designed in such a way that the user never needs to know.

The workaround today is to not use the VFR button, and then all screens will work. We'll have a fix for this out in the next firmware release, due in less than a month.
