I'm curious what others with two coms have done for switching between the two.
I plan on using tosten military grips and just asked him if he offers a spdt switch to control the ptt between the two. His website shows a momentary switch.
Do you turn down the volume on the other com you are not using?
Any other options?
Put the ptt switch on the panel and put a flip flop switch on the stick?

Use the standard momentary PTT switch on the stick. Have the output of this switch go to one side of your DPDT "Comm #1/Comm #2) switch on the panel such that the stick PTT switch keys the radio you want to talk on.
While you could also switch the audio on/off based on which radios you are talking on, I suggest you just turn down the standby radio audio. Either way, make sure you retain the capability to always have both radio audios playing to allow for monitoring the standby frequency (e.g. 121.5).

I have Infinity grips and use the thumb black button for comm flip flop. While you can switch this between radios as well (use a TPDT comm 1/comm 2 switch), I have the pilot stick for flip flop on comm #1, co-pilot stick flip flop for comm #2 as this is the most typical way two radios would be transmitting at the same time.

This seems exactly backward to me...you use PTT, what, maybe 10-20X as often as switching comms? Seems like it would be a pain to have to push a button on the panel every time you want to talk, when there's a perfectly good PTT button on the stick where it's convenient...

But hey, it's your airplane, do it however you want! ;)

I did not say that clearly.
When I said the ptt switch I was actually referring to the switch that would control which com you transmit on.
The actual ptt switch would of course be on the grip.

You probably need an intercom too, if you have a passenger seat and 2 radios. Many radios have a builtin 2-place intercom feature, but this is difficult to use with 2 radios.
With the Dynon intercom, I use a panel SPDT switch to connect the PTT output of the intercom to either com1 or com2. And use each radio's volume control to set reception volume.
