When attempting to upload firmware update Skyview-14_0_7_3621-dynon_update.dup, I get an error message: "Must be in DUC file with password"
What does this mean and how to proceed? What password is needed?
Have 14_1_1_3678-dynon_update.dup now on a USB stick.
Have noted from some of the forum notes, that since it is many years since the system has been updated, I may need to upload a SkyView_14_1_1_EU_Package_Mar31.duc to start with and then upload the dup file. The duc file is for the USA and not Australia though. Problem?
regards

What kind of aircraft do you have? Some aircraft manufacturers have chosen to restrict the ability to install Dynon Avionics' normal firmware updates.

Flight Design chose to "lock down" the configuration of the SkyView displays in the aircraft they sell. Please contact Flight Design or your Flight Design dealer for assistance on resolving this issue.

Hi
I will be coming to the US soon. Can I bring the two Skyview displays and have them serviced and updated at Dynon?

We can't do anything outside of what it prescribed here: http://flightdesign.com/wordpress/?page_id=4524. But also, note that depending on the certification of the aircraft, there might be requirements for any changes to the avionics to be done through Flight Design or their authorized parties. In other words, make sure that you're keeping the aircraft airworthy by updating it it in the way authorized by your countries' laws and whatever restrictions Flight Design may have put on it. We don't have expertise in every type of aircraft certification.

Just to finalize this blog, the problem turned out to be that one of the Skyview displays had been replaced, perhaps very early during test phase, and this had not been recorded in the log book. Hence the unlock code did not correspond to the actual display serial number. Once this was detected, the new unlock code worked and the display was updated.
