I have almost no luck uploading the Dynon US Aviation and Obstacle database through a cable connected to a USB port on the SV. On the USB port installed in the panel, I can upload. Any ideas?
Also, my SV do not cross-load, so I guess I have to investigate the Ethernet connection.

You need to use a USB thumb drive plugged directly into the USB port. Also the database files must be in the root directory of the thumb drive. I don't know if you can use a cable directly from a phone or laptop, but if you are the files are probably not in the root (C:) directory and therefore they are not recognized

That wasn’t real clear - I’m assuming whe you say you can’t upload using a cable connected to USB you mean from the same thumb drive that you can through the USB on the panel - that means the thumb drive is working fine - files are already in the right location, etc, etc. Also the USB on your panel is just a USB extension cable to a USB port on the SV, and since that does work with your drive - it’s 1 of 2 things

1)The other cable you are trying to use is bad or not compatible

2) the USB port on the SV that your other cable is Plugged into is bad( I’ve seen other post where that has happened)

to test this - plug the panel USB port that is working into the port you had the other cable plugged into. If you can still upload from the panel port, the the other USB cable you were using is bad or not compatible, if it does not work you have a bad USB port on the SV unit.

But the real question is, if you can upload through the panel USB - why are you trying to upload from another USB cable connected to the SV? That is why you put the extension cable to the panel - to make it easy to update the units from a port on the panel that is easy to access.

No, the real question is not why I do one thing or the other, that is up to each of us. The real question is why one works and the other doesn't. I'll run the tests.
