USB extension not recognized

Hi,

I have a HDX1100. Wiring was done by Approach Faststack (attached). When I attach a USB drive to update the databases it does not recognize the USB input, but it does when I attach it to the back of the Skyview, so the USB is fine but the Skyview is not recognizing the USB extension.

I had the same setup on the old Skyview Touch so I know this will work, it's just a matter of figuring out Why it's not working and How to make it work.

UPDATE:
Just talked to ApproachFastStack, they've had problems in the past with the HDX integrating with the external USB cord, and they stopped offering that in 2023, so I'm going to wrap it up and secure it.

Just a FYI in case anyone else has the same problem

The old cable Dynon used to offer had a dongle in the middle of it, but they stopped supporting that with the HDX I believe. Some installers used that connection, and it no longer works. A standard USB extension cable seems to work fine for most folks.

Some of the off brand USB extensions don't play well with Skyview. My wiring harnesses originally had the parallel USB extension hardwired in. I just cut them off and capped/stowed the wires, never a problem.

I upgraded from two 7" classics to two new HDX screens. I have two panel mount USB extensions from L-Com that work great with both the old classic displays and my new HDX screens. They're a couple dollars more than than the ones available on Amazon. But you can order them online direct from L-Com.
