USB sticks in HDX

I guess I go through two new USB sticks about every 6 months when updating the HDX systems. Yes, I get 16gb or larger sticks. They'll work for a few months, then simply stop working in the HDX screens. My last sticks were the 16GB sticks I bought from Dynon. They update OK on the Seattle Avionics chart updater, but the HDX screens would simply stop accepting the data: Both my screens go so far as refusing to boot up at power-up with the sticks installed. They get stuck on the HDX screen, and I can't get them to power down. I have to cycle the backup battery power to each screen to get them to shut down. Then, they won't reboot unless I remove the USB sticks.

This week I bought two brand new USB 3.2 sticks, updated them with current maps and plates, and tried updating the screens. They wouldn't boot.

So what am I doing wrong? Does SkyView HDX only like USB 2.0? I can't find any such limitation in the HDX manuals.

There is a known bug with some USB device drivers - rumor has it that software version 16.0 will fix this bug - and rumor also has it that 16.0 will be released sometime in the next few weeks.

I have used several different types and sizes of USB Drives over the past year and have not had any issues...guess I am lucky. I have two HDX, 10" with battery backup and 7" without. I always plug the Chart databases into the 7" and do the monthly updates on the 10"...

@scrollF4 V16 is out and in the release notes it says:
"Fixed: SkyView now works with USB memory sticks that would previously inhibit the display's ability to power on correctly."
