Did five hours today with the 14.05 version. Specifics:
- got four spurious audio "cautions" on initial taxi.
- no further audio cautions until four hours into the flight - got two while adjusting the Dynon radio. None after these.
- Got just one AP disengage. It came with the audio alert. Straight and level flight in smooth air and nothing being touched on the panel. AP reengaged just fine.
- no display shutdowns/restarts.

So at first blush it seems this version is not much different than 14.0 (at least for me).

Now that you're running v14.0.5.3594, we'd like to get your Dynon Diagnostic File from that flight.

Dynon - if the event occurred using one of the older versions of the test software, and then the newer software was installed after the event, does the diagnostic file (pulled under the newer software) give any relevant data for you? Or does it only have diagnostic value if the errors occurred while running the latest test version?

The latter; the Dynon Diagnostic File that you export is only as good as the version that was installed on the unit at the time of the freeze, reboot, or System Event.

Looks like my screen fits the Technical Service Bulletin for ver 14.0. I installed version 14.0.5.3594 and took a couple of half hour flights but no lockups or anything out of the ordinary. I have a 6 hour xcountry coming up next week and will capture some diagnostics if it happens.

A few of us with Van's RV12 SLSA airplanes are starting to wonder when we will have a fully functional Skyview again. We are flying with SV13 because we can't use 14 until Van's finishes testing and then approves that for our airplanes because we fly under a special FAA certification that requires the builder...VANs....approve anything done to the airplane. So we are stuck with less capability than we bought until the bugs get worked out and Van's gets done testing.

This is a problem that should have been thought about before 14 got rolled out. We understand the need to compete with Garmin by getting to the market fast but the current situation with 14 bugs is not helping that.

Well, hold on now.
This really doesn't have anything to do with Dynon. This has to do with the way S-LSA regulations work. The manufacture could choose to never allow any updates. They have control. They also could have allowed a blanket LOA (or just have it written in the manual) to allow updates as they became available.

Your loss of function (I assume you're referring to TIS-B/FIB-B data) is by function of the FAA raising the bar on user requirements.

The point being, yes there have been issues with v14, but the choice of not allowing it on your aircraft is 100% vans. There could be nothing wrong with the software and they might still choose to not allow it.

For N456TS:
Of course we know al that! The hold up at Van's is the bugs in V14. Van's is doing all it can. What the manufacturer COULD do (your term) is irrelevant because Van's is a very large and capable of keeping up with this stuff and has been doing that for a long time.

So...it has a lot to do with Dynon....IMHO...and experience. We've been here before.

I think you've missed the point. The issue is van's choice. It's not Dynon's. Flight Design holds back people despite shipping aircraft with newer versions. It's their choice.

Hi RV12 owners,

I can speak first hand that Dynon and Van's have proactively worked together getting the v14 and GPS-2020 out as fast as possible to the RV12 SLSA fleet. I can also first hand say it was our (Dynon's) Service Bulletin that put the program on hold. We sincerely regret the inconvenience that has brought to people waiting (and those that didn't) but we feel it was important to find the problem before proceeding with the SLSA release.

The good news is that we are confident we understand the underlining issue referenced in our latest Service Bulletin and will have a final release available in the near future.

Indeed, it is possible to delay and other manufacturers have delayed updates but trust me that is not the case here.

In our UK build non S-LSA RV-12, we have been running v14 since a couple of weeks since it came out (dual SV1000, AP, txpdr etc). No issues to date.

As usual I am totally appreciative of the new and FREE updates and additions that Dynon give us with their regular SW updates.

Okay, so there are some gremlins with v14 but Dynon haven't exactly washed their hands of the problems, have they?

Thanks, Dynon ;)
