V14 Status Update

Been lurking here following the events with V14. I am currently at V13 waiting to install my 2020 GPS. I understand the 2020 GPS will not work without V14.x so I have not installed my 2020 GPS.

If I understand the current situation, V14.0.1 simply provides for better debugging to understand the system freezes without any fixes. Are these system freezes from V14 isolated to certain configurations of Skyview or is the problem expected to occur in any Skyview installation? Is everyone who upgraded to V14 experiencing these problems? Hard to understand the situation by reading random posts.

As a data point. I upgraded to v14 when it first came out and have not had ANY problems with it. So there's some specifics related to configuration that are at play with the failures.

In my case I have a single 10" skyview screen, with AHARS, EMS, ADSB, Transponder. NO Autopilot servos.

Thus far I have not seen any failures.

From reading the other threads, I would hold off a few more weeks if you are stable on v13. No rush on your 2020 install just yet.

Thanks. It did seem that the folks reporting problems had more than one screen. My configuration is the same as yours except I have the autopilot.

We've been posting updates on this issue here. 14.0.1 improves but does not entirely fix the behavior (what were freezes in 14.0 become reboots in 14.0.1). We also have a good hunch that it's a software bug that only happens on certain earlier internal hardware versions. See that thread for the details.

Installed the 2020 GPS and upgraded to 14.0.1.3558. Test flight was went well. Another flight tomorrow.
