If I'm wrong please correct me, but I'm assuming that to get the audio features from the v3.3 release I'll need to make a new wiring connection between the SKYVIEW and ???

Grateful if someone could refer me to the right place in the Operation or Installation manual.

Thanks!

Hello ,

Don't have the operation manual in front of me but you should connect the SV audio output to the input pin of your intercom/audio panel.
Download the electrical connection diagram of your intercom/audio panel and you will know which pin is audio input.
This is the way I did it and it works well. ;)

Hope this will help you

Have a good day

The SL-30 has an intercom that's designed to accommodate headsets, but no auxiliary inputs. As the manual states, the output from SkyView is intended to be connected to an auxiliary (ideally un-muted) input on either an intercom or audio panel. The SL-30 does not have any inputs of this type.

If I understand what you're saying is that for me to get the audio warnings and all, I'm gonna have to install an intercom or audio panelll

How come I'm able to hear the warning off my ATD-300..is that different??

Any other surprises like that coming up..

So much for audio...  ::)

Bruno you could try one of these, http://www.fdatasystems.com/Products/AP-60/AP-60.html easy and cost effective & no panel holes to cut. no need for a separate intercom either, the instructions cover your situation. ;)

PM me if you need more help with this.

What exactly do you want Dynon to do about your SL-40's lack of external audio input? Seems like you're blaming them for something that's not their fault.

It's probably just a lack of understanding or knowledge that's causing frustration by some like Bruno, maybe the 'tone' could be different but that can be hard to convey - totally different from those who don't/won't read the install manual first, MY pet annoyance ::)

Hi Steve

You right, Dynon has nothing to do with my SL-30 Intercom problems..I should have taken a cold shower before posting..

My apologies to Dynon and to all of you guys.....
---------------------------------

Jake , thanks for the link, it looks like a nice little gadget..It might be a better choice for me since I'm starting to ran out of room in my RV-4 panel..

I have a few questions if you don't mind I will send you a PM..

Now  where is that cold shower ;D ;D

As we say - no worries  ;) , I'll reply to your pm some time tomorrow as I'll be travelling earlier in the day.

There is a cheaper way if you have time to experiment but I prefer to buy 'off the shelf' items, it's easier, works and saves time plus this unit will take audio from several devices as it's in effect a mini audio panel but remotely mounted - sweet  ;)

Hi Jake

Ok thanks for taking the time to answer my questions..

They're mostly about connecting my Skyview and other items to this device..Appears to be fairly strait forward but I've been surprised before...

I will send you a PM today..

Cheers

Bruno :)

Does anybody know what the audio inputs are used for on the iCOM A210. and can Skyview be connected directly to them?

My buddy has one in his RV-4, if we get in a bid, I'll be coming back screaming for help..

Thanks again for that info..

mmarien, I have an Icom 210 but I'm not using the aux inputs. I've got the skyview piped into an audio panel. The Icom has three aux inputs if your using the molex connector, aux 1 + on molex D, and aux 1 - on molex 4. should work. The manual is a little unclear as to how the aux inputs work as far as switching and availability. It seems like someone who's first language was not english wrote the manual. There are menu options for the aux inputs, and you can turn them off. You should try it out. I love having my girl talking to me. Some guys don't like it at all, some like it. I've got it into the audio panel and can just shut it off if it becomes boring.

I might give it a try. I had the GPS495 connected to my PM1200 but it created a background buzz. I'm going to connect SV to the PM1200 but will be looking for alternatives if the background buzz is still there.

Hi again Jake or Dynon Support

I"m in a little bit of a jam and would like some clarification if possible. :-?

Today I hooked up my SL-30  ( Serial Port 3 ) and connected the TX & RX to their respective pins and the Skyview is seeing the SL-30 ( At least there is some activity in the port )

What I'm wondering about is , do I connect the PIN 3  of the SL-30 ( RS-232 Serial ground ) to Pin 30 in the Shyview harness ( DB-37 )??

Also for Jake ...Do I connect Pin 20 & 23 of the SL-30 to the AP-60 ( Audio Mixer ) Comm audio & Nav audio respectively to hear warning and ATC etc..??

Clear as mud isn't it??

Thank you all for your imputs

Cheers

Connecting the grounds together isn't strictly required if the SL30 and SkyView display are grounded to the same place, but it can only help reduce noise if you do.

Hi Bruno

http://www.fdatasystems.com/Manuals/AP_60_Manual.pdf

Yes, just wire up as per above install manual link - I'd add an inline switch to any item that doesn't have volume adjustment but not for the Com. Do add a switch for the nav side, use a SPST switch using shielded wire but join the shield behind the switch.

I fired up SV v3.3 after a 3 month upgrade including converting to VP-X. I connected the audio to my PM1200 but I'm getting the same background noise as I was getting with my GPS495 connected to the PM1200. :( When there is a transmission (eg SV voice/GPS voice/radio or my voice) the background noise goes away and the transmission is clear. However, the background noise starts to build again as soon as the transmission is complete. It's not static, it's more of a hum. PS Engineering suggested that it may be the noise cancelling circuitry of the PM1200 but we never finished trouble shooting. The PM1200 is advertised for noisy aircraft.

Soooooooo. Does anyone out there have an audio panel that works well with SV and GPS495 audio? In the mean time I may experiment with the audio inputs of the iCOM 210 as noted above.
