I have a new plane with D100, D180 and HS34 in which the D100 has died. I have replaced it with a spare (new) D100 but the software rev needs to be 5.0.0 for system communication to work (the DSUB).
At this stage I want to upgrade just the D100 until everything is again working. Later I'll upgrade the whole lot to 5.1.?

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks ... now any idea for the installation instructions?

I want to just do the D100 first as I know the rest of the bits are working and don't want the hassle of upgrade problems etc (see lots of other posts) This way I just have to diagnose one thing.

What do you mean by the installation guide? The whole product installation guide, or the software update? Software updates are always done the same way, and the instructions are on the download page. The latest product installation guides should always be used, since they contain the most up to date info on how to put our products in an aircraft. There are no real changes from the 5.0 to 5.1 install guides.

As we keep saying, we have thousands of customers out there, and any time we update software, a few of them go bad. It is not an indication that there are specific issues with the 5.1 release. You encounter more risk going to 5.0 and then 5.1 than you do just going to 5.1, since you will need to update twice.

The ONLY reason to go to 5.0.0 is the new D100 is the only component not at 5.0.0. and until the failure of the D100, the system was working fine.

At this stage, it is more important to have a working setup and I think this is best achieved by "playing" with the minimum number of components possible.
I have had several EFIS and EMSs (>10) in various planes and have had a few "interesting situations" when upgrading software ... sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't.

When I have everything working I will upgrade the entire system to the latest version.

I was after the 5.0 update guide, but if there is no specific information then perhaps I don't need it ??

Thanks for your help.

I have a general upgrade question.

When you upgrade, do you have to re-do anything else, like compass calibration? Or does the NVRAM stay the same after upgrading the software?
