VOR input to HSI display

In the first airplane (RV-8A) I had an SL-30 feeding a D10A. I really liked the D10A HSI display where the SL-30 primary VOR drove the course deviation needles and the SL-30 secondary VOR was displayed as a bearing pointer to the VOR in a different color (yellow if memory serves).
I now have the dual SkyView install in the RV-10 with a Garmin GTN-650. Is there a way for me to get the same primary VOR driving the HSI course deviation needles and secondary VOR as an HSI bearing pointer? I have the 650 configured to the ARINC as listed in the install manual.

I note that when I select the 650 GPS as NAV 1 and 650 VOR as NAV 2 I get the yellow bearing needle pointing to the VOR.

The GTN can't receive the signal from the secondary VOR, so we can't display it. The new Garmin SL-30 replacements don't do it either. It was a special feature of the SL-30 that seems to have gone by the wayside.

I should have known Garmin would screw up the very nice Apollo SL-30 with their replacement nav/com. I guess that way you are force to buy a second nav/com from them.

For the next airplane I'm hopeful we have other options beside Garmin. The GTN-650 has been a problem since first install. It has been back to Garmin twice on my dime and it still has problems.

How about Dynon filling this certified GPS enroute/approach void?

Carl could you elaborate on the 'problems' please, or at least pm me - it may be useful to know to save a few other people headaches with troubleshooting 'issues'. ;)
