I am doing fast taxi runs before I take my first flight. When I get up to about 40 knots, I get "caution" "caution" in my ear but I can't figure out what its for. One time I thought she said "g's".

Can anyone help me figure this out? I feel dumb. I did have a lot of trouble calibrating the magnetic compass and the GPS assist is on the screen. Other than that everything is clear.

SETUP > SYSTEM SETUP > AUDIO SETUP will get you into the various audio alerts. Try turning them off one at a time. There is a G-Meter audio alert, so start with that.

Also, check the min/max in your G-meter, that will tell you if you are reading G's.

If you are, 99% chance you have your AHRS somewhere where it's vibrating vertically, causing it to read false G's.

Thank you. The reply makes sense. I have it bolted to the floor so a fast taxi might be vibrating it vertically. I might dial it up for the first couple of flights to avoid having it drive me crazy.

I will test it again in the morning.

Also, come to think of it, if you're hearing "CAUTION", there should be an alert that's fired in the message area (above button 8). It should be flashing yellow. Press the button - that will pop the alert window to tell you what it is in more detail.

I swear I have no yellows on the list but I will try again and check. I am positive that when I pull off after the fast taxi, the messages are clear.

I have heard the "Gees" and "Caution" also on my rough gravel runway on occasion on landing but have never got a yellow warning from it.

I noticed a voice caution message once in a while but I believe it was on taxi and backtracking. Could be the rough grass strip but I though it had to do with GPS assist when there is not enough pitot pressure to register airspeed. My airspeed starts at about 20 kts but on backtrack the GPS would register a higher speed then the pitot if it registered at all.

Ok, I did more taxi tests today. It is saying "warning GPS assist" as I speed up on the ground. Disregard my original post - I had set the menu to "no messages" by mistake.

Now that we have that cleared up, is there a way to have it ignore the warning below a certain speed?

(mmarien nailed the scenario I am experiencing)

She's telling you: GEEEZ! (You know high-speed taxiing is one of the most dangerous things to do in an airplane!)
