What Is Autopilot Servo Gain

I understand what pitch sensitivity is however I do not know what gain does.

Can someone please explain what this does?

Also, sometimes we have to disconnect the autopilot to make a change and other times we can leave the autopilot engaged...what is the logic?

Also.....sometimes we are supposed to switch to basic mode and other times we are supposed to be in expert mode...same-o...what is the logic.

Gain = Aggressiveness
