You need to use the latest support program to update your HS34 to the latest firmware. This will fix the first problem.
As for your VSI, you probably have the system set up for "CDI+GS" in the clutter menu, and you're running a 2/3 EFIS screen. In this configuration, the GS takes up the left info item position. You can either turn off the GS display on the EFIS screen, or put the VSI on the right. The GS takes up this position even when it's not currently active.
