Just got back from Sun-N-Fun and there were varying answers on how to do this from the Dynon folks working the display. I just paid for it online. It appears you have to wait for an email giving a certificate code and then fill out a licensing request form and wait again for a response on that. There is no procedure listed anywhere I could find explaining the process. Why so convoluted on something that should be dirt simple??

Re: What is procedure for purchasing SV-270 Mappin

The process is pretty simple:

1) Buy a license certificate on-line from us or via any retailer
2) Give us that license certificate code and your SkyView serial number
3) We email you the code for your screen

This is "convoluted" because of a few things:

1) The code is not the same for all screens, so we have to get your serial number at some point. This isn't like buying a code for software on your PC where it can talk over the internet.
2) We need our retailers to be able to sell codes, which is why we have the idea of a certificate code.
3) We don't allow the system to process a credit card automatically and then issue a code right away. We've lost tens of thousands of dollars over the years to credit card fraud, and we require a human to look at all orders before we will ship anything.
4) The map comes with a 30 hour trial, so nobody is without the map waiting a few days to get a code.

We do hope to be able to combine the order and you giving us the serial number into one step, and we are working on that, but we aren't quite there yet just a few weeks after we started selling these.

Sorry for your troubles. We are working to make it better, and we know it isn't perfect, but it does work for now, especially given our relatively low volume (compared to an Amazon or some massive retailer).
