where to hook the voltage pins?

From what I read here, you can basically connect them any where you want to know the voltage. I decided to connect one pin to the main bus and the second to the avionics bus. My thinking was that if either bus died, I would know by the voltage although when I think about it, the avionics bus is fed from the main bus so if the main bus died, then both would. I would know if the avionics bus died and the main bus was still working.
Also I'm thinking that with this setup, turning on the main bus switch without starting the engine should show the condition of the battery, would it not? I know someone will let us know if that isn't true.
You should protect the wires with a 1A inline fuse. See the "EMS Voltmeter Pin Connections" discussion farther down.
