Hi,
In a two Skyview setup are 2 Wi-Fi adaptors necessary? Will a loaded flightplan into one unit go to both Skyview panels?
Also is the shipping date for the Pocket FMS Adaptors immediate? or like the remote Magnetometer are they not available until later in the year?

Thanks,

Alan.

Hi Alan,

For a two SkyView setup, you do need two WiFi adaptors.

The flight plan will be transferred into both SkyViews.

The shipping date I can't tell you about. Dynon will have to answer that. All I can say for sure is that they weren't for sale at the Aero show at Friedrichshafen last week, but at least one of the Dynon dealers was taking advance orders.

Thanks dublinpilot,

I was at Friedrichshafen but forgot to ask the question.

Did take advantage of the discounted subscription of 99euro for FMS Frequent Flyer though. :)

Dang, I found out today that Dynon requires an adapter for each display.  I assumed that I only needed one (for the display I use as a map).

I ordered one through ACS in Canada, and paid the outrageous shipping charge.  If I had known I needed two, I could have saved about $25 and two weeks of shipping time by ordering them both together and using my freight forwarder to bring them in from the US.

It seems very strange that you need two in a dual screen system, given the ability for the SkyView screens to talk to each other.. through the svn or by ethernet.  It also complicates installation a bit, given that I have used up the available USB ports on one screen for A Dynon video adapter.

So no good deed goes unpunished. I'll have find an aviation grade USB hub unless the ethernet connection works.

Vern:

We require a Wi-Fi Adapter for each display in case of a display failure - we don't "synch" the Wi-Fi via Ethernet or SkyView Network. There are a total of 3 USB ports on each SkyView display - one that's wired to the 37-pin connector, and two on the back of the unit.

Ordered a second one from ACS Canada and shuffled my USB ports. Small price to pay for external FP Loading. $60 with shipping. Should have read the manual first.

i also don't see the point why you must have two adapters.

it could be option for one display only, if this display fails you simply don't have wi-fi connection anymore.

if you want redundancy then you put wi-fi to every display you have.

it would be like upgrading skyview display not the system.

Redundancy is one reason, but there are some deeper SkyView architectural reasons as well.
