I noticed that too, bobl.  Would be nice if it could be used for serial port data to a PC or tablet instead of a cable (or Bluetooth like I use now).

Has anyone tried plugging in a WiFi adapter into a USB port? I would try one with a common chip set supported by unix like systems.

In your best Sargent Schultz accent: I know nuh-tink!

If you're taking votes for iOS apps to connect to, I vote for WingX.

Also, the newer D2 added WiFi capability over the D1. You can read about its features. Thus, Dynon has already built WiFi capability once for the D2. Think of the possibilities! :D

========================

Woodinville, WA, OCTOBER 7th, 2013 – Dynon introduces the D2, a second model to the Pocket Panel product line, the true attitude indicators that can be used by ALL pilots. The new D2 adds Wi-Fi connectivity to allow flight data to be sent to popular iPad, smart phone, and tablet aviation applications, and has a second screen with a G-Meter. The D2 retails for $1,425, and the original D1 has a new lower price of $1,195.

Wi-Fi connectivity allows attitude and GPS ground speed, altitude, G’s, and ground track to be sent from the D2 in real-time to an aviation application, which can then show that data on a flight information display. Compatible applications include the WingX Pro7, AOPA FlyQ, BendixKing myWingMan, iHUD Remote, and Air Navigation Pro.

My hope for a WIFI adapter would be to load data into the Skyview, not take info out like the D2 is doing. I'm thinking it would be real nice to be able to make a flight plan in Foreflight, or some other Ipad app, and load it into the Skyview. Same as we can do now loading a GPX from the stick.

Or the SkyView sends flight/engine data to a D2ish device in the back seat.

Some of you have some good eyes. Here's the feature we were holding out on: ForeFlight + SkyView can now connect over Wi-Fi. Given that the other 12.0 features and this were so closely aligned, we mulled doing a second software release that added Wi-Fi. In the end, we decided to leave the functionality in there so that we didn't need to do roll the software twice in a few weeks. We figured a few of you would notice, and you didn't disappoint! :)

Can you provide a link where to buy the wifi dongle? I can't find it on Dynons site or AircraftSpruce.

Thanks

Geoff
