What does this mean? On my flight home from Oshkosh yesterday, I saw this. I understand the wind direction is from 300 and I am correcting to the right, but what is 51? Can't possibly be wind speed could it? I'm at 3,000' and I'm pretty sure the wind is not blowing that hard.

Thanks!

That is exactly what it is saying. 51 knots. It is calculated from your track, mag heading, tas and ground speed. If your compass or airspeed are inaccurate by a small amount it will affect this a lot.

A quick look at the figures shown and a couple of minutes with a E6B shows that there is a wind correction angle of 23 degrees and a ground speed of 132kts. I suspect the information shown is correct.

Doesn't matter what the wind is...if the compass is off you'll get all sorts of weirdness. Garbage in/garbage out.
