Before I start building wiring harnesses, would someone mind taking a look at the wiring diagram attachment? I think I have everything in the correct spot, but I have a few questions.

1. Can I connect the PC data port to the EMS and leave pins 1,2,14,15 dedicated to navigation?
2. What does the +5V Out and 5V Excitation Circuit do?
3. Does "Keep Alive" and "Master Power" both need to be connected?

You should get an experienced person in avionics wiring to check it out - IMO that is not Dynons job  ;)

1. That is better described in the install manual - use the latest version available on their website.
2. If you have the VDO style Oil & Fuel Pressure sensors, & the standard MAP sensor, then I would split the 5volt wire 3 ways with one going to each position.  Dynon do not sell the VDO type any more & the new Kavlico ones use the 5volt as well as ground (a Dynon ground) & sensor wires. That way you will have the wires necessary in place for when you do need to replace those VDO sensors - the VDO Fuel Pressure sensors are known to fail.

3. DO NOT connect the "keep alive" wire - that is now redundant & mentioned in the install manual, I think, but definately NOT used.

What aircraft & engine type do you have ?

BTW - diagram looks very neat.

HTH  :)

Jack J,

Thank you for the reply.  Unfortunately, the Air Force has stationed me at a location that does not have an experienced avionics person within a 3+ hour drive to ask any questions.  I do have a few Air Force Avionics guys willing to help, but they aren't familiar with Dynon's equipment.  I do, however, assume Dynon is willing to help out a customer.   :)

1. Still have a question about connecting the PC.  I've read the manual.  I know the navigation instruments need to connect to the HS-34.  Can I connect the PC to the EMS Serial Port and update both the EMS and EFIS?  Or is this connection also required to go through the HS-34?

2. Found the information on the +5V.  Thank you for the direction.  The EMS is already installed, so I didn't look at that installation manual.

3. Thank you for the tip on the "keep alive" wire.

**4. One other question, why is there two DSAB buses on the EMS? Do I need to connect both of those?

I have a Lycoming O-360-A1A.  The EMS is already connected to everything but the fuel level sensors.  I'm adding a EFIS and HS-34.

Thank you for your time,

Matt

1a. If you have an EFIS-D100 or EFIS-D10, you will need to connect directly to that instrument's "PC connector" to update it. This connection will also update the AP74 and servos (if installed, connected, and configured).
1b. If you have an EMS-D120 or EMS-D10, you will need to connect directly to that instrument's "PC connector" to update it.
1c. If you have a FlightDEK-D180, you will need to connect directly to the "PC connector" on the 25-pin connector to update it. This connection will also update the AP74 and servos (if installed, connected, and configured).
1d. The HS34's PC connector only serves to update THAT device.

4. No, you don't have to connect both. They are bridged internally.
