XM Weather on SkyView

Last I spoke to Dynon XM weather/music is not supported. Not sure why they don’t support it on the SkyView HDX, but let’s face it the realtime weather is a safety factor.

So come on Dynon, how about stepping up.

Although SkyView does not support XM weather, most US customers equip with the SV-ADSB-472 receiver, which receives a variety of ADS-B FIS-B weather products, including nexrad radar, metars/tafs, lightning, and more.

I offer a data point on XM weather. I was an early adopter (2012 timeframe) of the SkyView ADS-b receiver. On the first long crosscounty I retained my XM weather (a 396) display to verify the SkyView ADS-b information adequate. Flying down to Key West we got into the typical summer thunderstorms. The SkyView and XM weather displays were identical.

After the trip I promptly canceled my XM subscription.
