Xponder fail after Skyview update

I updated to Skyview vers 5.0 without obvious difficulty. However when I attempted to update my xponder it went into something called power cycle. When I rebooted the system it no longer recognizes my xponder and will not force configure it. Any ideas?

If the transponder was powered off or the SkyView rebooted during the update, the transponder needs to be returned to us for repair.

Thanks for the reply. The transponder went all the way to 100% and was not powered down?rebooted until after the phrase power cycle came up.

Just an fyi, I had mistakenly left the xpndr off when i updated to 5.0. I was able to go into setup screen and when I went into the transponder setup it prompted me that I needed to update and I was able to do so from there. Everything works fine.

IIRC, when I updated the transponder and received the power cycle message on the transponder status page, I only cycled power to the transponder, not the entire Skyview system.

Oh, well if it made it to telling you to power cycle, then it did complete the load, and you can just cycle the transponder power. However, it still sounds like for some reason the transponder update failed, and we'd still need to get it back to repair it. You don't need to do anything else except let the load complete and cycle it, so if it isn't working after that, something is wrong with it.

I saw the 'power cycle' message come up but everything appeared to load okay. I haven't checked the transponder with an external source but it doesn't show a problem.

What exactly does the 'power cycle' message mean - I couldn't find it in the Install or Pilot's guides.

Merry Christmas! :)

It means that after the transponder firmware is loaded, it must be power cycled to start working again. It describes this on the screen of SkyView before you start the update.

If the transponder code shows up at the top of SkyView, and not a red X, then everything is fine.

Thanks for that. Code is there, red 'x' isn't. :)

Note to self, read everything before pressing any buttons....! :-[
