Zaon To SkyView Displays "Partial" Message

Hello Dynon, great job on the version 5.1 upgrade! I have been enjoying the data logging and other new features. I have the Zaon PCAS XRX connected to my SkyView for traffic detection. Yes, it does not interrogate other targets like ADS-B devices and thus displays a yellow highlighted "PARTIAL" message constantly in the bottom right portion of the screen. I notice there is no way to turn this message off. This message area is fairly critical to watch and having just another informational message here to alert me of the passive nature of the Zaon is probably unneeded and takes up some real estate on the map page of my 7 inch display. Can I suggest the option of disabling this message display in the next release?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
The FAA really likes the idea that when a traffic device is highly restricted in what it can detect that it be labeled as "partial". We kind of like that idea too, which is why we folded it in to all traffic sources with the ADS-B upgrade in 5.0. Realize that even ADS-B says PARTIAL sometimes too. In complex installs, someone can actually fail-down from ADS-B to Zaon, and the message is important to make them notice this failure as well.

The issue we have is that while you might know the restrictions a Zaon has, someone that flies an unfamiliar plane may not. As you say, this could be a user option, but every user option costs time and money to create, implement and document, and then every SkyView a user flies works a bit different depending on how it's configured.

So, while we're always happy to re-think any decision we've made, at this point it's working as we intended it too, the way the FAA says it should, and we're not highly motivated to change it. Dissenting opinions are welcome.

Ian,

Not the response I was hoping for .. you're driving an ADS-B messaging strategy to my SkyView display that does not have ADS-B electronics connected as I do not own your solutions for full ADS-B. Hopefully Zaon is an non ADS-B option for which I believe you still support integration? I see the PARTIAL as an informational message regarding the Zaon, not a failure in this case as you describe. To use this real estate for the constant display of a yellow highlighted PARTIAL message on my screen, that I cannot suppress, also uses up real estate that should be reserved for more critical messaging. Also, my experimental aircraft is not for hire or flown by unfamiliar pilots. I am not asking for a user option, just a way to suppress this message by pressing the message button typical to responding to other messages. If it were not for the data logging, I regret updating my SkyView to version 5.1 because of the now constant display of this message on my screen.

Please let me know if there is another course to follow regarding lobbying for the ability to suppress this message constantly displayed on my SkyView because I chose to integrate my Zaon.

Dave maybe you should be grateful that's dynon incorporated the zaon in the first place. I am amazed that so far all these upgrades have been at no cost to the builders. Use some black electrical tape to cover up the warning. It's cheaper. I am also amazed at generally how responsive dynon is to community requests
