I have not found a solution for this issue. I did find a video of a guy with the same issue and he would keep repeating the direct to until the boxes showed up. I got that to work one time on a vfr flight, tried it while ifr the other day and with wind drift was getting off course so I gave up...

I have a Skyview HDX and an Avidyne ifd540. Working on my instrument rating we recently transitioned from timed vor holds with the nav radio to using the gps side of the ifd540. If I enter a flight plan and build a hold in the ifd540 when getting close to the hold I get a msg saying the type...
@Dynon Is this is a reply to my previous picture /post with settings? My sl30 works perfectly with the HDX, I just turned on one monitor to take a picture of my settings to possibly help the original poster. I don't think the sl30 was on when I tool the picture.
The photo I posted above is a working system. When I took this picture today it was with only the one screen on and the hangar door closed and no nav signal being received.
Is this a new install? I have also have an sl30, when I initially got my panel up and working I had a similar issue. The fix was to go into the sl30 settings and set the indicator head type to none.
@GT3 I'm right here with you. I bought my HDX system when the PA-24 was on the list to be blessed with an auto pilot. (2019) My panel is cut for the control head and has a cover plate on it. I'll keep hand flying with the hope that one day the Dynon A/P.
