Transferring a route from external device to SV?

Just got done using AOPA's beta of their "new" online flight planner. I put new in quotes because it looks just like the old Jepp version - and most importantly the .gpx export is there :) :) :)

New Feature Request : Bearing Line

And the best part of doing it this way is that you can get some good ol' NDB course tracking training! Remember push the head, pull the tail ;D

    Couple more Ver 11 items

Only one flight with V11 here, but I had 2 parts to my user data file on a 1 hour flight :-[. I know the problem existed before (never had it previously), but thought it had been fixed..? Also - another problem that I did not previously have, but was aware of.  I was flying in pretty darn calm...

    V11 load problem

I first loaded the V11 package. All other previous updates loaded with no issue. This time, my map data went away. No map showed up on the SV and I had a No DB message at the top of the screen - this has never happened with any previous update. Fortunately I also had the new map data on the...

    V11 load problem

Yes it is fine after updating the map data. Just odd as I have never had any other package update act in this manner.

    V11 load problem

Tried loading v11 - completed, but have no map and says no DB - have this at start up: I'm currently loading the new map data - taking forever - so I can't really trouble shoot. Hoping the new map data takes care of it..?

    10.1 chart issue

Ok - a little more info: Other answers below: around Savannah, Ga and in between Oshkosh and Ga - maybe KY, TN...

    ADS-B IN receiver

+1. I had a portable and it was sporadic at best - I was really down on ADS-B wx vs XM. After installing the Dynon, however, I have excellent wx all the time - without the $55/month :)

    10.1 chart issue

Yes, Eric, I do have ADS-B in.

    10.1 chart issue

It wasn't the normal terrain warning coloration?

    10.1 chart issue

Same here; I'll have to wait to get to the hangar to get most of the info. I don't have a good idea on frequency because I predominantly use the terrain map. The few times I've experienced it, I believe it has always been after quite some time into the flight. Also, mine is consistently ok at...

    10.1 chart issue

Steve - I originally posted this thread. I had it happen again on my return from OSH. As before, 8-mile zoom was fine, but all others were either repeated, as in your pic, or just a bunch of unintelligible large pixels. I removed my thumb drive and reinserted - fixed the issue.

Approach Plates without active flight plan

Sure can - it is one of the tabs on the airport info page.  I often pull up a plate to a nearest airport to check approach/center  frequencies.  These, too, are on the nrst info page, but I often check a plate or chart because of old habits :)

    Seattle Avionics

Adam - I had fits with SA and Larry's suggestion - specifically disabling simultaneous downloads - seemed to work on my Windows 8 laptop.

    Skid ball adjustment.

Interesting thread. This how mine is straight and level: My D6 backup is centered. Wish there was a way to adjust.

basic navigations Skyview cannot cope with

Want not need... I understand what Jchang is saying.  After flying helicopters for years with an HSI, I agree it is nice to spin the course deviation indicator to runway heading to get a visual to set up for a 45' to the downwind.  I did miss this when getting my FW add ons with only a DG.  I...

    Fatal reboot

Interesting occurrence, Vern. I have had ZERO issues with my SV software - until yesterday. Upon shutdown I stayed on b/up battery power and downloaded my EMS data (as I always do). The download appeared to be frozen on 3%. Eventually the screen turned to the boot screen - showing all the...

    No Enroute Charts

I have had less than stellar performance from SA's Data Manager - saying my drive was updated when it wasn't, etc. I did not have to adjust anything in my SV menu to get charts. Once they were loaded on the thumb drive, they appeared in the layers menu.

    No Enroute Charts

The layers soft key is where you select the sectional chart (or terrain, enroute). You must have your thumbdrive attached. The doc at this link is a good read ;) http://dynonavionics.com/downloads/User_Manuals/SkyView_Pilots_User_Guide-Rev_Q_Software_v10.0.pdf
