C182R Install - Joining the Blank Panel Club

Not Dynon per se. The Electroair system is good but very pricey and only replaces one mag, so you would still need to overhaul one. You might look at the six cylinder P-mag as another option, simpler to install and only needs 12V during starting.

Autopilot PreFlight Test and SPD Warning

The ground test doesn't tell you anything about in flight operation of the servos unless you have a shear pin that has failed. Even then the system will function, if somewhat poorly. IMHO, you are more likely to screw up the network configuration, autopilot configuration, etc and cause a...

Autopilot PreFlight Test and SPD Warning

I guess I don't see the point of doing this test before every flight. The amount of force to override a servo should not change from flight to flight. The direction a servo moves the stick with a heading change should always be consistent and not change between flights. I understand doing it...

    HDX Lean Assist Question

Instead of playing around with several injector swaps, I ran perhaps 6 Gami tests as well as Don's suggested lean test. I then looked at the data for quite awhile and determined my #3&4 were both running cool and rich of the rest. So I just ordered two restrictors .0005 less than stock and...

    Skyview, IFD and Foreflight integration

I disagree. If one is to fly IFR with a Dynon display, you need it configured to display the flight plan of your legal IFR navigator. You need to be able to make all clearance/flight plan changes directly on the IFR navigator. Whether I create a flight plan with Foreflight, FlyQ or other...

    Glidepath Pointer/Needle/Indicator

I wish it were a full wifdth needle like the localizer, just like a traditional ILS display.

    Problems with HDX data manager

It is likely your USB sticks. There is a long standing issue that some systems will recognize one identical stick and not another. I've swapped sticks with a friend to solve. His wouln't work in his Dynon HDX, but did work in my Classic. My identical SanDisk Ultra fit worked in both, so we...

SA Data Manager screwed up AGAIN

Well, SA support did get back to me, my password had gotten corrupted somehow. Once that fixed, it updated normally. I don't depend on SA charts for airport pattern, freqs, etc.. I get those from the Dynon navdata.

SA Data Manager screwed up AGAIN

Yup, Today my email/password that has been stored in the ChartManager forever stopped working, in spite of my having a lifetime subscription. Now get no subscription information available. Only automated response from support.

System32 EFII RPM & Dynon HDX

The Surefly mag system uses a tach converter to change the output to a 0-5V square wave. You may need a converter or sufficient resistance to drop the voltage to what most EFIS want for an input.

    SV Knob panel with HDX

I agree. Nothing like having the knobs to set heading, altitude and altimeter changes with one reach for correct knob in turbulence

VPS and PPS in new RV-10 build

Well, I guess I will agree to disagree. I have been flying my RV-10 with VPX for years, and would not hesitate to fly it IFR. I have back-up batteries for each Dynon screen if the highly unlikely event that the VPX fails to provide power. Early on, until I got circuit breaker values set right...

    SkyView autopilot failure modes information

While some static system problems create issues for attitude, hopefully anyone flying IFR will have an independent backup to use. I am more concerned about auto-trim failures that have the servos fighting the auto-trim. I highly recommend leaving the trim messaging on so that you know when...

    Dynon NAV/COMM???

Real old one I still use: King KX-99. Sporty's, Icom, and others all have them.

    Dynon NAV/COMM???

I agree that there is a need for VHF navigation. It is also half the cost of a certified GPS receiver, doesn't need any data updates, and works when the military is jamming GPS for whatever reason. A Dynon NavCom would enable VHF IFR without needing to add much. Solid backup for and GPS...

    ARINC-429 menu de-acivated

If network configure does not find the ARINC-429, then you have developed a loose cable connection or other wiring problem.

    Dynon NAV/COMM???

Your Dynon provides a perfectly adequate and legal display of the nav signal. However, you may want a separate display for redundancy reasons. AFAIK there has never been a requirement for a NavCom or its display to have TSO certification, unless the aircraft was flown Part 135 or similar for...

    Dynon NAV/COMM???

How about a used SL-30 or a Garmin 225? Or really old, a used KX-155. I have SL-30 and GTN-650 for my IFR navigation.

    RPM Sensor 30K Resistor Location

Not necessarily, probably depends on which mags you have and wiring specifics. IIRC I used 22K resistors. I have Bendix S1200 mags.

    RPM Sensor 30K Resistor Location

The optimal location is for the resistor(s) to be as close to the ignition switch as possible, where the P leads connect to the switch, and yes, you need a factor of 1.5 for six cylinder engines. That is how I have it in my RV-10 with IO-540 and works fine.
