traffic does not show on display

There is a configuration screen for traffic that allows you to select all traffic displayed, just threats and maybe turn it off. I have all traffic on moving map, and just threats on PFD.

    Mooney autopilot

I don't disagree with you as far as desire, etc. I owned a '65 E model for 18 years, just sold 5 yrs ago. Just depends on how rational owners are about spending around 40% of the total value of the aircraft on new avionics, which may at best add 50% of the cost to the sales price of the...

Can Someone Please Help Me Understand The SV and GTN Integration?

You are assuming too much. The GTN supplies the Dynon transponder with all the required elements except items that come from ADAHRS. The GTN does NOT AFAIK get any traffic info from the Dynon. My preferred mode is to have PFD traffic alert turned on, MFD traffic off, because I have tried having...

    Mooney autopilot

You are somewhat mis-representing the data above. It shows interest from 70 short body owners. How many of those would actually pay for even a single screen with necessary accessories and autopilot is unknown( and not close to 50% of those expressing interest). By contrast there is interest from...

    VNAV and Pseudo RNAV Approach

The Garmin vertical guidance, whether ILS, LPV or LNAV/VNAV or visual approach shows as a glide slope needle on the right side of your Dynon HSI. Garmin has visual approach guidance for most public use airports. However, I would sure fly multiple times in Day VFR before considering it at night...

    Mooney autopilot

It is likely that Dynon's decisions are market driven. Unfortunately the short-body Mooneys do not have very high market valuations anymore. How many folks are going to drop more than 50% of the current value of their plane into a Dynon glass panel/autopilot setup? Unfortunately, the C model...

    Transponder Update

It will answer No until the GPS source has a lock on enough satellites. It is normal to be no until you have the plane with a clear view of satellites. Since I use a Garmin GPS for ADS-B location, it takes a minute or so after I start engine before the Dynon system sees that the Garmin has...

    SV-GPS-2020 mounting under the cowling?

Not true. All the ADS-B report tells is whether the position information and the rest of the transmission is correctly formatted has GPS integrity and generally agrees with the radar position, which is no more accurate than the nearest 1/2 mile, not the 10 meter accuracy GPS is supposed to assure.

    SV-GPS-2020 mounting under the cowling?

B.S. Many aircraft, including many Vans aircraft cruise in a nose low attitude so the rear fuselage is very close to level. Ditto most Cessnas, Cirruses, etc. If you look far enough in the documentation, most certified GPS do need as close as possible to full view of the sky. My GPS250 will...

    Pitot Tube Cover

The barrel of the pitot is the same size as a standard AN pitot used on most later model Cezzners, Mooneys, etc.

    SV-GPS-2020 mounting under the cowling?

You may not "think" what something needs. For IFR flight your equipment needs to meet the requirements of the TSO approval, which includes the installation instructions for antenna placement. You may "think" you are okay for penetrating clouds with an install that doesn't meet the TSO...

    Question about compass

IIRC there was a time, way back that the regs said you needed a compass. Today's regs say you have to have a magnetic direction indicator, which covers most any form of magnetometer, whether built into ADAHRS or separate.

    SV-GPS-2020 mounting under the cowling?

Two potential issues. I had my original GPS250 mounted there. It failed after 5 years there. Was easy to replace, since many 250 units have been replaced with 2020 units, surplus of used 250s out there. 2nd issue, using the 2020 for ADS-B it really needs full 360 view of sky and under the...

IFR, and IFR into IMC in an E-LSA

There is no meaningful difference in the language. While advisory circulars are not generally regulatory, they can have that effect. To a FSDO, "appreciably change" can be as little as a word change in a placard. Given there are documents, the AC that says it is major, do you want to argue...

    Software Update v16

Have you priced brand G data update prices? Flat rate repair prices? The nav data charges compared to Dynon are outrageous, when the data comes from the same source at exactly the same price. The changes for 16.0 are nice to have, but didn't have to have any of them. Some how I don't think you...

IFR, and IFR into IMC in an E-LSA

The controlling documents are FAR 43 appendix A and AC 138 latest revision. FAA frequently defines a specific change as major even if it wouldn't be under appendix A. GPS install is one of those...not major if not connected to autopilot, major if it is.

IFR, and IFR into IMC in an E-LSA

Doesn't matter whether you are connecting autopilot to the flight controls or GPS to the autopilot, it is still a major because it can affect flight control behavior. FAA opinion, not mine. A major alteration needs at least a FSDO test period and location for an experimental. Kelly A&P/IA

IFR, and IFR into IMC in an E-LSA

An E-LSA airworthiness certificate once issued and the 5 hour test flight period is complete, regulation-wise is no different than an E-AB aircraft. It isn't called experimental to just prohibit flight for hire. It is experimental. You can modify anything, as long as you recognize a "major"...

    Software Update v16

The diversity version is NOT passive. You have to control the transponder with AV-20 or AV30 mini efis, for setting squawk, ident, etc. all the old Mode C functions.
