Could it be a bad earth connection. The switch to disconnect goes from the servos to ground when pressed. Perhaps find out where the ground connection is and clean it up most intermittent problems I have found have been due to earthing.

Look in the AUDIO SETTINGS menu you can change the starting point of the tone. Read the tiny wording at the bottom of the screen it tells you how the settings work.

Check it with a hand compass. You will soon see if there is any major magnetic interference. My 6 does not have a remote mag I just use the one in the adhrs which is mounted behind the baggage bulkhead.
