    Using Seattle Avionics charts

On the screen push the "info" button, make sure the correct airport of interest is displayed, then press "PLT" for plates and you should get a menu of the available plates (ground maps plus approaches/departures) for that airport. If that does not appear then yes you have a file issue on the...

    Emus

To each their own, but what I did was to install the backup battery on the Dynon, I boot the Dynon on the backup battery immediately upon entering the cockpit. By the time I'm done with seatbelts etc and ready to crank, it's up and showing all the engine parameters for start - WITHOUT the...

    Emus

Please don't connect anything direct to the battery, take it through a fuse or breaker somewhere... But more to your point - I hung that on my avionics power buss, so it comes alive along with everything else when I engage that buss (separate from the master).

    Alternator / Battery?

What was the VPX fault? If it's overvoltage, Carl is right, there is only one source for that, it's the regulator or the "sense" wire feeding bus voltage sensing to the regulator.

    Odd OAT readings.

Agreed. You are getting engine heat under the belly of the plane. The ideal spot would be on the bottom of the wing, outside the propwash, like around the pitot tube area.

Standby Network Error - Data 2 Pair (Pins 4 and 8)

Correct. All of the 9-pin DSUB connectors on the Dynon hardware are equivalent. Any device from Dynon that has multiple 9-pin DSUB connectors can have the cabling swapped between them, they don't care.

    Servo harness routing

The two data pairs are twisted to avoid interference - if you make your own cables (I did) then buy the twisted-pair conductors from Stein and use them. As far as picking up or emitting interference, I've noticed none in my 1800 hours.

    Emergency glide test findings

Dynon has already stated that the Classic/Touch software updates are sunsetted. They are only moving forward with the HDX series.

    Emergency glide test findings

My suggestion would be a simple software update - have the autopilot hold steady altitude as long as the airspeed is greater than best glide +10 knots, and then any scenario with active power production will not produce an altitude change, but only a turn to the nearest acceptable airport. If...

    Emergency glide test findings

My thought was VFR-into-IMC flight. Hold the NRST button to engage, pull the throttle to idle, and ride it down to the airport surface until you break out.

    Backup Battery not holding charge?

Power the screens up on ship power, then turn off your master switch. The screens will go to the backup battery for power and display the "shut down in 30 seconds" message. On the bottom there are some other options you can press a button for - one of them is "battery test".

"No Compatible files found in the main folder" - Can not update maps

Are you running 17.1 software? There have been a couple reports of USB read/write errors associated with 17.1, a possible bug.

    7.1 usb bug

Aaahhhh - interesting - I'm running the beta version of that software, and thought I had a couple of bad USB sticks, that sheds some light on the problem.

    Emergency glide test findings

One thing to be aware of - currently as written, the software will try to capture best-glide speed and take you to the nearest airport. If you are at cruise speed, and/or still making significant power, the autopilot will pitch up and climb excitedly to capture best glide, and then nose over to...

    Backup Battery not holding charge?

The screen will remain alive on battery power if it thinks it's in flight - normally detected by airspeed. If you have a windy hangar location it's possible there is enough gusty wind conditions to make the unit think it's still in flight, or you might need to repeat your "zero-speed...

    Heading Bug 180?

You mean, like a right 270 turn instead of left 90? Not that I'm aware of, other than just turning the heading bug as the aircraft comes around.

    KTX2 Mode S Transponder

Though you are probably restricting your audience by posting here for non-Dynon related stuff.

Bonanza with tip tanks - how to set up HDX fuel quantity indications?

Yes, you can. I have 4 tanks on my RV, and have 4 gauges for left, right, left outboard and right outboard. When fueling up I have a "Preset" button and a "Full" button. My Preset is set for 36 gallons (inboards only) while the Full button is set for 67 (inboards and outboards). If you only take...

    Help with software update

Each display must be updated separately, they don't "share" the update. If both screens are not running the same software version, all kinds of errors pop up.

    HDX10 heading off

Section 20 of the installation manual covers this. Unfortunately I have no information for you on a 182 installation.
