Scope this cool project out... an airplane quilt!
The backside has minkie on it, so it's incredibly soft and warm.
This quilt pattern is called "BQ5" by Maple Island Quilts.
This quilt was made by my wife and it was quilted by Human Touch Quilting.
The fuel transducer was installed today, as well as the manifold pressure (vacuum) line.
AN hardware was applied to the pitch servo, so it's now secure in place.
The elevator cables will be re-tensioned tomorrow.
Yippee!
I just had to pay a visit to Six Pack Aero this afternoon to visit N22230...
The 172 Roll Servo Guard Service Bulletin has been complied with.
The pitch servo assembly will soon be attached to the belly of the airframe with AN hardware.
I forgot to snap a picture of all of the new wiring...
More progress...
The magnetometer and Dynon GPS antenna have been mounted.
Wire harnessing in the wings are installed and secured, as well as wing tip strobe and nav light wiring.
Wiring for the pitch servo has been routed and installed under the floor.
The engine management system wiring...
Six Pack Aero is in the process of installing the roll servo in the left wing and
complying with the Roll Servo Cable Guard Service Bulletin that was released
on March 24th.
The roll servo isn't 100 percent installed yet, so the control cables are loose in
these images.
Scope out that cool...
I'm going to have Six Pack Aero replace the factory original control yokes with new ones from Cessna.
The new Cessna yokes are a better fit when compared to the originals.
They'll easily bolt into place with the new shaft-to-yoke adapters (a separate Cessna part number).
I strongly considered...
Makin' progress! Visited Six Pack Aero this afternoon. Here's a sample of what I observed...
EGT and CHT probes installed. Tach cable capped off. Vacuum pump pad cover in place.
Two new Rami VHF antennas on the roof. Whelen LED tail beacon and rear nav light good-to-go.
20 pound...
I can believe that value for weight loss, for removing the entire vacuum system, the old nav/com radios, all of the steam gauge instruments, and all of the associated wiring harnesses does have a major impact.
Components are in the process of being removed!
The original isolation mounts for the secondary instrument panel were rotten (suspected that they were all along).
It was a busy day at the Six Pack Aero hangar.
The basic elements of the Six Pack Aero's Legacy XL sheet metal structure was prepped and some items were riveted onto it.
The interior is completely gutted out, so the next step is to remove all of the antiquated instruments and wiring.
Yes...
The autopilot system will have a Level button mounted in an appropriate location on the new panel.
Here's the link for that specific component that Dynon Certified offers.
Work began on the new instrument panel today.
There are other components that are ready to be connected to the new panel once it has been prepared to receive those parts.
WIP...
