Made the call to support and the answer was not good. You need a valid time/date input both to calibrate the compass and while flying later. Have no choice but to add another GPS to my already finished installation (ordered a SV-GPS-250).

Page 6-6, last paragraph, says that the north marker points to geographical North. I believe this should be magnetic North (whether on-ground or in-flight).

Is Skyview supposed to remain powered down when you use buttons 1,2 and 5? Every time I do this on either of my two screens, the screen will immediately power back up when I release the buttons.

To the Moderator: It seems to me that, when not in motion, the ball is indicating the relative state of level to earth's horizon, not the airframe. For an "on the ground" check of the ball indication, don't you have to ensure that the airframe is level first?

Thanks for the help. This ancient GPS puts out an invalid date field in the RMC sentence. Wonder if it had the GPS week rollover bug or the millenium bug (1999), or whatever. Haven't thought about those problems in a long time!
