    Adjusting fuel flow precision

How do I adjust the precision of the fuel flow readout? I'm set to liters/hr. It might be obvious, but I've missed it. I'm looking for readout in tenths of a liter/hr for injector balancing. Vern

    GPS Status

Just to be fair, my Garmin GPS has had outages like this as well (not at the same time). The cause may be external. Why not allow a status field to be added to the MAP page?

    GPS Status

Twice, in flight, I have received a primary GPS Failure messages. Since I have a secondary GPS source, this apparently was of no consequence, other than the message. However, I can't see anywhere on the SV screen that shows GPS 1 or GPS 2 status in a convenient location. This would be useful...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Here's some in-flight information on the expected magneto waveforms. The first trace (magneto-1) shows a 2400 rpm primary trace on the top, showing both positive and negative firing events.  The pulses have a large damped sinusoidal component that needs filtering.  The bottom trace is the...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Re: IO-540 P-lead resistorS---SUCCESS! Update: Did some circuit optimization and testing with a 5V power supply. Amended design attached.

I use this feature all of the time... actually NM/L. It really helps to understand the fun/fuel tradeoff.

    Power down/ADAHRS bug?

No, The aircraft hasn't flown in precipitation and the reboot worked just fine.  Today, however, another incident occured... I powered up the SV using the master bus to demonstrate what happens in the aircraft if the power fails... and when I powered down, the SV went black. I rebooted and...

    Power down/ADAHRS bug?

This has only happened once, and is functioning normally after a power cycle.  I don't have a GTN or GNS in my system and the system was indicating zero airspeed.  I have flown subsequently without problems. I will watch for this again and report back.  I have now upgraded to 7.1.

    Power down/ADAHRS bug?

Configuration: Single SV-D1000, 7.0 firmware, single ADAHRS, EMS, dual A/P servos, SV GPS. Externals: On ground (hangar), powered from Master bus, with battery charger on-line. Routine systems ops check, including activating all electrical switches. Problem: SV message "Cross Check Attitude"...

FLT TIMEs do not total to FLIGHT

And to translate to ICAO terminology: Dynon FLT Time = ICAO Air Time. Transport Canada nailed me on this one. Vern

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Re: IO-540 P-lead resistorS---SUCCESS! Well, I did what I do, and that's design interesting electronic gizmos. I solved the problem for my p-lead tachometer interface. It required external circuitry (see attached) that conditions the p-lead pulses and presents a digital pulse to the rpm...

    Whats next

I'm just saying... if Jeppesen and PocketFMS want to compete for my business, they should offer free trials on the SV system. Dynon could broker this, I'm sure. Just offer a free evaluation period. Of course it's their fault. Just like everything that goes wrong within my family is my fault...

    Whats next

...Since you brought it up....  We in the ROW (rest of world, i.e. not USA) don't get a free NAV database that's provided by Dynon... but we still have to pay the $500 map license AND buy a Jeppesen or Pocket FMS subscription. The 30 hour trial period is kind of useless when outside of the USA...

+1 on that. If you want to improve screen usage, I would vote for more customization of the EMS display. For example, its not always necessary to display the units-- I have a custom sensor that display BTDC timing-- but it's labelled PSI because there is no degrees widget. BTDC is fine by...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Electroair does not put out a tach pulse when it's turned off for the mag check. The only source for RPM at this point is the magneto. Setting the resistor value for reliable low-rpm indication does not work at high rpm due to the false high rpm readings... and vice-versa Using the AFS mag...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Thanks for the additional info. I tried with a 100K pot + 30K, but it wasn't enough, so I switched to the 1M pot. As for the electronic ignition, it's an Electroair. The only way to disable the unit is to turn the power off, which kills the rpm indication I will check the sensor debug data...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

I'm a perfectionist, and I'm looking for the root cause. I think I have a handle on the magneto waveform and the plug regapping may help. Higher compression may cause more waveform issues as well. If I can't find the sweetspot, I have designed an external circuit that should help. Vern

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Hey Jake, thanks. I have a 1 Mohm pot in series with a 30K resistor, yet I can't find a sweet spot. If I eliminate the erratic overspeed indications, my mag check is erratic, and vice versa. I think that the output of the mag varies with plug type and compression ratio as well as rpm. I'm...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

I'm struggling to get the correct resistor value for my IO-540-D4A5. Initially I used 30K, but I got spurious prop overspeed alarms, so I wired in a trimmer potentiometer, accessible in flight. I can eliminate the spurious overspeed warnings, but now I get spurious dropouts in the rpm...
