    "Flight" Timers

Dynon's interpretation of Flight Time in the SkyView seems to be at odds with common usage, at least in Canada. My interpretation is: Air time commences when the aircraft leaves the supporting surface and terminates when it touches the supporting surface at the next point of landing. Flight...

    Boot up

I'll wait for it to happen again and see if I can get more details. Thanks, Vern

    Remote AOA indicator

I developed a remote indicator for the D10a. It sold in reasonable volumes, but I discontinued it. My experience with my own product (and referred to by Paul Dye's article on AoA in KitPlanes magazine), is that a visual indicator of this type did not enhance flight safety. Instead, the...

    Boot up

I see basically what Jesse describes, except that a few seconds into power-on I get about three spashes of green horizontal lines on the screen for a few seconds, followed by the normal boot sequence. Sometimes this normal boot sequence almost finishes, then reboots itself with the green...

    Boot up

I would like a faster boot up for the SkyView system. In addition, the current boot sequence where the screen goes crazy for a few minutes gives a poor impression and may give passengers concern about the system quality. How about a more professional power-on sequence?

    Undocumented(?) Features

Yes, these are features, not bugs. I agree that it's a good thing to stay on in flight! I should add one more: 3) The SkyView cooling fans can serve as a window defogger. I put a muffin fan behind my SVD1000 to suck the warm air from the SV and blow it on my windscreen. Won't find that in...

    Undocumented(?) Features

A couple of things I've picked up which may not be documented (I'll admit to not reading everything): 1) If you hook a Garmin Aera configured as a secondary position source to the SV and use the Aera to select airports or airport frequencies, these will be received by the SV and then pushed to...

Skyview EMS and IO-540 P-Lead Resistors

Sometimes it's a configuration problem! I found that the pin was not configured, so hopefully that's the fix. Thanks, Vern

Skyview EMS and IO-540 P-Lead Resistors

I have a new install, with SV 6.0 software; Standard magneto on left, Electroair on right, IO-540 D4A5. Tach indicates properly with Electroair, but drops to zero when Electroair is turned off. Magneto is still operating fine. Checked the data log, it shows identical rpm on both L and R...

    Autotrim?

This is a tad premature, but this fall there will an open-source trim controller design released from MakerPlane that can be programmed to talk to a SkyView and sniff the data streams. It's feasible, with some firmware development, to make this into an auto-trim device. It would be a lot...

Ray Allen Indicator in Parallel with Skyview

Here is a solution to the problem if you are using the RP3 LED bargraph indicator from Ray Allen.  This circuit buffers and amplifies the RP3 potentiometer voltage so that it is independent of the SkyView. Power is provided by the SkyView EMS 5V reference, so their is no danger of overdriving...

    AP76?

I have a servo motor controller design that is capable of taking autotrim commands from any compatible EFIS. I have developed a protocol for this that is easy for Dynon to implement, but I would be willing to work with anything Dynon can throw at me. This controller will be released as an...

    Next release 6.0?

I have a request: The boot-up procedure for the SV system is reminiscent of the early days of Windows. Is it possible to have a more dignified boot-up? Right now, it (figuratively) coughs and sputters like a '67 Falcon. It does not convey the look and feel of a piece of quality equipment...

Flaps overspeed alarm based on contact input

Sounds feasible. What I ended up doing is programming the flaps to 0 and 1 (degrees), so now my display shows the flaps arc with a 0 or a 1... kind of a binary representation, which is acceptable for me.

Flaps overspeed alarm based on contact input

I have a microswitch that simply indicates when the flaps are deployed. I input this to the ems via a CONTACT widget. Is there any way to use a CONTACT input as a parameter for the flaps overspeed alarm or am I stuck with just using the POSITION parameter? I can kludge it by calibrating the...

    Noise

SkyView audio noise eliminated! I have found the solution for elimination of the SkyView system audio noise.  It includes Dynon's recommendations on adjusting audio levels, plus grounding issues.  Rather than replicate the discussion, please go to...

EMS not found at power up

Well, the plot thickens.  This is now happening every time I power up. I connected the EMS directly to the SV-D1000, with no other devices connected in the system.  Here's what I found: On a cold power-up, the EMS is not recognized and the EMS lamp is solid red. On a warm power-up (power off...

EMS not found at power up

I suspect that I'm getting reflections off of an unterminate SVN cable. Thismproblem started when I removed a servo for service. I will rig a connector with termination resistors and try again.

EMS not found at power up

Twice today, I powered up my system and the Skyview could not find the EMS. Cycling the power worked. This is the first time I've seen this. Aircraft is not yet flying. I will check out all of the connectors and d-sub pins. I did find a bad SVN cable once before (pin not fully inserted)...

    Fuel calibration - Tail Dragger

My suggestion would be to jumper your two fuel level inputs over to two enhanced inputs. Define the enhanced inputs as fuel level (capacitive type). Calibrate your main floats in level flight position and the enhanced inputs on the ground. Should work, but I haven't tested it. Vern
