I think PYoder's post is right. Currently, that limits the capability, and so the Nav 2KR isn't currently compatible. We've noted this behavior one to possibly fix/improve and may have a fix for it in the future, but that's not a promise at this point.

The ground-only cal can be adequate, but won't be in many airplanes. If you're getting that message even after doing the ground calibration, the system is determining that the quality of the cal isn't high enough. Although, it sounds like you're not even able to get through the calibration, so...
