    EMS D 37 contact pins.

I already have a landing gear warning light system in my Long EZ, containing a microswitch on the nosegear, an airspeed switch and a microswitch on the throttle. It is set up so that the light comes on when airspeed is below 80KIAS, throttle is below 50%, and the nose gear is not fully extended...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

Didn't know about that document. And in the legend on page , it says that the X means an "unterminated wire". That certainly means I must be hooked up to pin 12. I need to check the wires coming out of the DB37 for another, shorter, unused, yellow wire.

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

When I installed my HDX and SV-EMS-220, I used the pre-built EMS DB-37 harness designed for Lycoming 4 cylindar carbureted engines. When I look at the pinout chart for this version of the harness on page 7-19 of the install doc, for pins, it says "no connection". Does that mean that pin2 is not...

HDX update 16.0.8 dtd 2 Dec 2021 failed. HDX display will not boot up any more.

Don, I uploaded 16.2 yesterday, and I got similar behavior. Partway through the load, the screen went black and nothing else happened. Eventually, I cycled the power, and the file load picked up where it was interrupted. Eventually, it finished, and the normal screen appeared. Do you want...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

Is there any way to check the continuity of the yellow wire that should be connected to pin 2? The wire is definitely connected to the place I want to measure the voltage, (the P-lead of the alternator), but in the SV config screen, where you can monitor the RAW DATA for each pin, it shows...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

Marc, Yes, although, (putting the legality aside for the moment), the logic is pretty compelling. To my original question, I think it is pretty clear that in addition to checking the ident before commencing an approach, we should monitor it, at a minimum, often enough to be sure the...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

NO, I could not find an FAR reference for this either. I got this from post earlier in this thread.

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

I think so. That's the screen that lists all the pins in sequence, and has columns FUNCTION, SENSOR, and NAME?, right? I configured it exactly like it shows on page 7-83 of the install doc, FUNCTION = VOLTS, SENSOR = VOLTAGE MEASURE, except I named it "ALT", not "MAIN". There was no SAVE button...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

I am trying to add a second voltage widget to my HDX screen, to monitor the voltage output of my alternator, using pin 2 (yellow wire), on the EMS-220 DB-37. I hooked up the yellow wire from the EMS-220 DB-37 wire harness (pin 2), to the point where I wanted to monitor the voltage, (alternator...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

But is it legally (FAA legal), required to be continuously monitoring the ident? I mean if you check and validate the ident with SCAN off on the primary frequency, (the one you're using to navigate, say an ILS), then can't you then turn SCAN on to monitor the standby freq and still be legal...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

Ken, yes, actually, it is (perfectly clear). And, as I read the Vega manual, you can quickly toggle the Scan on and off, which means you could put the more significant frequency, (the one you are currently using for IFR navigation, like the ILS on an approach), in primary and the less important...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

Well, much information there. Thanks! I was assuming that the Skyview could only display data from the primary frequency. I was assuming that the N16 had two receivers, one for primary freq and one for the Standby. I guess I should have understood the way it really works from the word "Scan"...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

I made (what I now suspect was a mistake) of purchasing the VAL Nav 2000 VOR/ILS Nav radio, which integrates with Skyview like an SL30. It works great, and I am very pleased with it, but the MGL Vega with N16 remote VHF Nav radio seems like a better option, for about the same price. I can...

HDX update 16.0.8 dtd 2 Dec 2021 failed. HDX display will not boot up any more.

Update: I tried to boot up the display one more time, after about an hour or two, and it now works, and the update was successful. I am leaving this [post here in case anyone else experiences similar symptoms. I am somewhat concerned as to why this happened... Obviously, if whatever caused...

HDX update 16.0.8 dtd 2 Dec 2021 failed. HDX display will not boot up any more.

Tried to load the latest update file this morning (SkyView_16_0_8_US_Package_HDX1100_Dec02.duc , from 2 Dec), and it failed. It ran for about 4-5 minutes, (re booted once that I saw), and got to the point where it was cleaning databases, then screen went dark then light Grey but nothing else...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

Yes, although I have been told the SV-GPS-2020 does a lot that a simple position-only GPS does not do. As I understand it, many items displayed on the Skyview HDX are calculated/generated inside the SV-GPS-2020. I'm not sure if the Skyview would be able to duplicate that functionality if the...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

So - another solution would be - with the SV transponder, GPS (SV-GPS- 2020) and ADS-B in, using three of the five serial ports, you could install a Garmin GNC-355 as both a secondary COM transceiver AND a certified GPS navigator, and then still have one serial port left over for an N16/Vega...

    D3 navigate?

Does that mean that current product is not hardware-capable of being software-upgradable? Let me rephrase. If at some point in the future, Dynon decided to add one or more features to the D3, is the current product capable of being so upgraded with only a software upgrade, or would it require...
