Compass cal / winds aloft error

Why do you say wings and tailcone are no-go? I have a similar situation in my Lancair 360 (MkII large tail), though perhaps not quite as bad as you are seeing. I don't yet have a remote magnetometer and was considering putting one either in the tail, wing stub or wingtip - access seems quite...

    Choosing an IFR GPS navigator

Too much reliance on touch, inefficient flashy UI - e.g. the menu uses huge icons & buttons, vs neat smaller text labels that I'm used to from the 480. I expect that's partly because they need to give you a large target to reliably mash with your finger in turbulence. But even outside of the...

    Choosing an IFR GPS navigator

In my Lancair 360 I've been using a Skyview Classic SV-D1000 + SV-D700 + GNS-480 and have been quite happy with them. I just bought a Lancair IV-PT and its avionics are obsolete and unsupported (Chelton IDU-III EFIS + GNS-530W + GNS-430). Time for a whole new panel I think, Skyview HDX of...

    "squat switch" output

Thanks but that's the opposite of what I need :) I do already have gear status monitored by the Dynon. I guess I'll add a dedicated pressure switch, it would just be nice to avoid adding additional fittings to the pitot system.

    "squat switch" output

My retractable Lancair doesn't have a squat switch to prevent inadvertent retraction on the ground. I haven't done so yet, but they say prevention is better than cure... In lieu of an actual squat switch detecting weight on wheels or a separate pressure switch plumbed to the pitot system, is it...

No top line ZULU or LOCAL time on recent flight

My Skyview Classic + SV-GPS-250 system is suffering from this GPS Week rollover issue. Does the 15.3.5 update that was released yesterday contain the fix or should I contact support separately?

Vertical stripey screen and reboots on SV-D1000

Dynon replaced my display for free! Thanks very much indeed, way to build brand loyalty :)

Vertical stripey screen and reboots on SV-D1000

I have an SV-D1000 and an SV-D700. Dual ADAHRS, single SV-XPNDR-261. Last year I sent my D1000 in for the http://www.dynonavionics.com/bulletins/support_bulletin_030413.php display circuit board service bulletin. It's been working fine since then, but today it crashed 4 times in flight...

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

Your engineer was spot on. Found one of the red/white ("power 2") wires in the network harness was rubbing on a grounded aluminum bracket and had abraded through the insulation, causing an intermittent short (and little sparks!). All better now. Obviously this was a case of less-than-clean...

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

OK, that would fit with the correlation with turbulence, taxiing over bumps, "firm" landings etc. I'll take a look at the wiring over the weekend. Thanks for the insight!

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

Same issue running on the D700 alone with the D1000 powered off (but still wired in to the network)

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

No reboots. As far as I recall, the only residual warnings were related to the attitude recovering and on one occasion an ADAHRS cross-check error that also disappeared after the attitude filters had reconverged. Did you see anything in the diagnostic files? Inside the display units, does the...

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

Also worth noting that there was no apparent effect on other avionics (e.g. SL30, audio panel) and I didn't notice any bus voltage fluctuations.

    ADAHRS, EMS, GPS momentary failure

Hello, My Lancair 360 has an early-model D1000 and D700, with EMS, SV-GPS-250 and dual ADAHRS. On Saturday on a return flight from Mojave (where the airplane had been parked on a hot ramp for a few hours) I had several momentary in-flight system failures. On both displays the attitude and EMS...

    upload latest software/firmware

If you're in the U.S., the best bet is to use the single "quick update package" from http://www.dynonavionics.com/skyview-software-updates.php That is a single file that will update software, firmware and all the databases. The unit is smart enough to not re-update anything unnecessary.

    Dynon - Thank You ...

Actually I wasn't - just new to SkyView - but now that I've read that other thread, looking forward to the update!

    Dynon - Thank You ...

Can you give us an idea of what will be new in 15? :)

    AOA best glide

The AoA display is very useful for safely making short-field approaches in my Lancair 360, since the wing stalls at the same AoA regardless of weight. Likewise, the wing provides best L/D at the same AoA regardless of weight. So potentially AoA could be a good sensor for knowing when you are...
