Air speed readout

Hi,
How hard would it be to program the EFIS and AOA to read off the airspeed when landing, instead of just getting the “stall, stall, stall” which really doesn’t help much. I’d love to have it tell me my airspeed so I have a definitive number. It would only have to read it off as the airspeed changes. I think this would be a great feature, not only in STOL situations but in any slow flight operations.

I find the AOA aural alerts to be quite helpful for this - the slow beep becoming a fast beep becoming a solid tone as you approach the stall. You don't have to take your eyes off the landing environment, and there is no additional programming to do.

Well since stall air speed changes with aircraft weight the old stall warning horn works better for stall avoidance than an airspeed call out. You calibrate the AOA aural alerts so it goes constant just before a stall happens. After a few flight you will know what beep speed gets you your best performance regardless of aircraft weight.

FWIW I have gotten so used to the AOA aural alerts (slow to fast to constant beeps) that I have no idea and don't care what speed I am doing when I land. All I know is that if I fly so the beep becomes constant as the wheels touch the runway, landings are silky smooth. YMMV

I’ve never gotten a tone, just the voice saying stall, stall, stall, which as I mentioned is really kinda useless, as it’s not doing anything progressively different from when it first occurs to when the plane actually stalls. I have it set on both, tone and voice.

Yes I have. I installed a potentiometer so I could adjust the volume levels as shown in the installation manual.

If you don't get the beeping alerts you have a configuration/set up issue. Contact DYNON support and they can walk you through setting it up.

Sounds like you have a non-Dynon AOA. The Dynon AOA system only provides oral beeps that go to a solid tone. Also, there is no potentiometer needed since the sound is adjustable in the EFIS.

What kind of airplane is this?
