I believe the 500 ft callout above the airport elevation is from a Garmin productI get a 500 ft call out on approach at 500 ft above the airport elevation
My 495 gives the 500 foot call out only if I'm landing at an airport in the database, otherwise it gives a "terrain terrain pull up pull up"warning. Maybe you're missing the runway? Are you able to see over the front of that bird on flare? ;D ;DMy Garmin 695 calls out 500, terrain and then "Pull up" - then just before flare out

Try flying through mountains or up a river valley. I turn my Garmin voice alerts off on those occasions. But it's cool to see the thousands of little x's along the bank where the Garmin GPS thinks you are going to CFIT.I have to select "inhibit" in my 172 for the terrain awareness system
