Angled Panel Mounts

Hello All,

I have an RV7 with 2 x Skyview HDX panels and I was wondering if anyone knows of a kit, or a way to angle the screen on the right to be angled toward the pilot. I didn't install them, it was purchased this way, but it would make using the right hand screen WAY more easier than it is now.

Any info you can provide would be awesome!

I don't know of any kit, but it would be fairly simple to build an angled bezel, as long as nothing behind the panel is in the way.

Yeah - I am thinking someone with a 3D printer and some 3d printing skills could probably knock one up. I have neither! LOL!

I have seen a couple planes with a 3D printed bezel that the HDX mounts onto, but I don't have a file or know who produces them.

I assume you are looking for something like this panel. The Glasairs have been using these for 25+ Years. They are sold as the vision micro panel. It is made of fiberglass with aluminum inserts. I am sure you could find one for sale on the Glasair owners group or direct from Glasair. You will likely have to adjust the dimension to fit the RV. Also note the SFD (backup display-D-100) area is not wide enough to mount the small HDX-800. So, that area will have to be adjusted.

Hmm.. I don't want to replace the entire dash. Just angle the screen itself. But - yes - angled at the pilot makes a lot more sense.

Something like this? This is for the HDX -1100, will tilt the display 1 inch.

Thats is a good question. i thought of couple options.

thru screws that go thru the panel but the screws will be angled, requiring an angled shim washer on back side of panel. They could be 3D printed also. But would require acces to both sides of display to install or remove. Could 3D print shim that can accept a nutplate, then glue to backside of panel.

or

you could thread the holes so the display mounts to the angle spacer. Then have additional threaded holes on back side, different location than the dispay uses, to attach angle adapter to panel from back side of panel. If this method is used i an not sure a 3D printed part would be strong enough for the long haul. Have it made from aluminum and anodized. But fit check with a 3D printed model first.

You could also angle shim a nutplate, and rivet or screw it to the panel. Then no rear access should be necessary after initial install. Might require countersinking though. Or just use a small flange, if space allows. Hmmm. Food for thought.

I printed out a sample in PLA. It looks pretty good, but I don't have a spare HDX-1100 to check for fit.

Birddog, where are you located? I am willing to send this to you for a fit check.
