AOA Indicator constantly appears

So I noticed the other day when taxi on the ramp that my AOA indicator was displaying on the Dynon Skyview display. Typically I do not see this until I break enough of an angle to get it to pop up. I've had no changes in the aircraft, is there any reason this is now displaying. The first photo is in the air, the second is on the ground when taxi.

I think it's because you have IAS active. I believe if you're below the threshold where you're not seeing IAS, it's suppressed.

Could you elaborate a bit more? Can I adjust this easily to test the theory? If I understand right your saying that any time if have an IAS it will display the meter? Thus why on a 21IAS taxi it displayed it? Can I test this by just seeing if it displays while sitting in the hangar going nowhere?

You've got it exactly right. If IAS is non-zero, the meter is displayed. So a fast-taxi or a very windy day could cause you the AOA to display.

It was EXTREMELY gusty that day. Where can I go in the settings to check this menu? I had a wing that bumped a hangar door but I am doubting that this happened due to that.

I'm not sure what you mean by "check this menu". If IAS is non-zero, the meter will be visible.

But, note that you can also change the IAS at which the audible portion of the AOA alert is suppressed - that's under audio settings in system setup.

Ok, so when looking at photo #2 you will notice that the AOA indicator isn't all the way full and indicates it's moving towards a reaching the critical angle of attack. What would cause it to display this while level on a taxiway? I can see how since I have an IAS of 20 some knots that the AOA indicator would be displaying on the screen however, the position it displays I feel is not correct for a vehicle taxi on the runway. Thoughts?

Is recalibrating pretty easy?

The procedure is in the manual. Very easy. I like mine calibrated to 3 knots above stall with flaps down, so I had to find the stall speed (~48 knots), then get close to stall and tell the SV that I had stalled. YMMV.

Of course, but it's mostly only relevant when landing or doing stall practice. I never look at the AOA on the screen. Audio is all I use.
